Yup be glad he didn't haul your bike to impound, if it was a constable or Sherriff they probably would have , that's $150 extra right there and someone with a license or truck has to pick it up. Live and Learn

Towing and storage charges at the lot can't get dismissed by the court.

Plus you'll be taking time off work to show up at courthouse to get the charges dismissed. Take the MSF now at your convenience not on a court deadline. Also many insurance companies will give you a 10% discount for completing the course. I took the ERC and I saved more money on insurance the first year than the course cost me.

Having a license IS NOT an unwritten rule for starters. Stay off the bike until you get a license, also insurance if you don't have it and off course you will need the MSF class.
