Feel free to brave the cold anyway you see fit. I got heated gear last year and wondered why I waited so long.

I wear overpants, so just a heated jacket is more than plenty for Houston riding. Keep your core warm, and your extremities won't get cold as quickly. Oh, and don't forget a good balaclava... and a pinlock helmet visor.

I much prefer the cold than hot. I get to put on all the gear I want.

They get me into the mid 40's without needing liners. Lower than that, and liners or heated grips are a must for more than 20 minutes on the bike. With liners, I've taken these gloves down to 36 without issue. Only downside is that they don't have any impact or abrasion protection.

Yea it still was fairly busy this am. If it get's a little bit colder I'm going to break out the base layer bottoms, the upper legs got a tad bit chilly this am.

It hasn't been too bad the last couple of days. I wish the morning commute was always this light. Since I've been riding the Sprint and started splitting when appropriate (since this bike is MUCH narrower than my Venture) I'm finding I get disappointed when I can't justify splitting.

What happened? I'm getting a bit worried about what's going on with mine. I filled up this morning and averaged 24mpg over the last 60 miles (one day commuting), which was actually an improvement over earlier in the week.

Valve adjust time.

Went to pull the plugs, #1 was rusted shut. The seals that go around the coils were not up to par, let a boatload of water in. So the plug broke.

Not a long enough, sharp enough, small enough drill bit to get in there and drill it out.

Figured I'd have to remove the head, might as well do rings, and whatever else. Initial estimate for parts was around $600. That includes a GT 6th gear, and whatever else.

Found a 27K mile motor up in DFW from a trusted source. I'll tune that one and rebuild the other one in the mean time. Maybe I will get 1/4 million miles out of this bike

I think I just read your thread about the broken spark plug over on triumphrat, but never made the connection as to who it was. I think I'm coming up on 24k miles and should probably check the valves, I may need to pick your brain a bit.

Have you used TuneECU to do any tuning on yours? I just ordered the cable and have been considering getting the USB adapter and android program so I can do it all from my phone. The interface looks pretty neat, especially if I can get a waterproof case to mount my phone and have access to the real-time info while riding (when necessary).

I used it to update the map, set speedo, and diags. Thats about it.

I am not a tuner at all, , I am barely a good wrench

I mostly need it for diagnostics right now, but for that matter I'm still running a fully stock exhaust, so probably not much to be gained by a tune just yet. I am looking forward to being able to sync the throttle bodies and such though. I'm hoping that the issues I'm dealing with can be cured with a fairly simple "tune-up".

If you are runnin without the AIS, a different can, or other things, you will need a different map.

I would sync the TBs the old fashion way. When did you do the valves? poor MPG is a good sign of wonky valves.

Haven't done the tb sync or valve check yet, bike has a little over 22k on it. Just got it not too long ago. Spent about a month chasing down a bad relay and this issue started after. I know I've got a check engine light and it feels like it drops a cylinder at idle when it's warmed up. Really jerky at low throttle until that other cylinder kicks in. I've got a new fuel filter on the way that I hope to change out this weekend. Only other symptom has been a dramatic drop in fuel economy. Last two fill ups have been ~2.8 and ~2.4 gallons after only 60 miles each.

Appreciate the offer, but my cable should be here by the time I can actually get around to using it, so I should be good.
