Smile helping a guy at work

So we had a company lunch, and I sat across from a young, single engineer. He mentioned he was picking up a new scooter last weekend. My ears perked, and I showed him a picture of my yellow EX500 from my iPhone. Then I started asking questions: tell me about your scooter. Well, a buddy of his was selling it cheap. Got a license for that? Nope. Ever ridden a bike? Nope, but it sounds like fun. Where do you live? Galleria area, I plan on cruising around Westheimer and such. Got any insurance? Nope. Do you know if the brakes work? Nope. Does it have a clutch? Dunno.

So, I gave him the lecture on safety, licenses, insurance, and encouragement to do the right thing. I saw him on the elevator this morning: he decided to not buy the scooter. He is going to take a safety class, then look at used bikes. I just had to grin. I knew I went to that lunch for something besides the gumbo.

Good job. Westheimer is the WORST place to possibly even attempt to ride a bike if you know how. Shouldnt even try if you dont. I had one small wreck a few weeks ago and barely missed another due toBleep Bleeping idiots pulling out in front of me while looking straight at me. Hate some people.

The first day I decided to ride to work, was almost my first wreck too. Where was it? Hilcroft before Westheimer. Everyone and their mama's are out there learning how to drive, at the same time they are texting.

Kudos to doing the right thing and giving him good info, that little piece of information can go an awfully long way.
