title, title application ( both signed by previous owner )

insurance, inspection ( from out of state, you may need a greensheet )

and it costs extra to title and register if your from out of state

you need to have it notarized if transferring title from LA to TX. Happened with my F4i. Shouldn't be more than 50 bucks or so and you can obtain the rest of the paperwork from TX DPS...

I called DPS before the info was posted. All for texas, first thing is proof of insurance, inspection, then go to DPS with title/inspection receipt and fill out the New title holder form and wall alala...or however it goes.

I've gone thru that before with cars, however...I john hancocked the last guys name on it and take it in. DPS doesn't know the first guy sold it to the 2nd guy that sold it too you..If that makes any sense.

You don't need the reciept for an in state bike. You can "say" that you paid anything you want for the bike. Then they charge you tax based on the price that you "say" that you paid. I just did this last year.

Not anymore... as of 10/01/31 a new law was passed that basically makes it VERY difficult to claim anything below blue book value, I guess they got wise to too much lost revenue from people lying about their sale price.

I found this link that lets you look up the "Standard Presumptive Value" that they will assess based on.
