Looks like you hit a retread off a semi.
NO WAY....would I put a claim in for that. Pay out of your pocket and even then you are talking a couple $$$, not worth the hassle of a claim and rate increase...

This bike has been down before. Those ARE Chinese plastics on it now. They have always fit terrible and are obviously brittle. I'd love to go back to OEM hence why I was considering putting in a claim. Especially since OEM is $600+ per side to begin with. I'll never buy plastics off eBay again. I have been fleeced one time too many in their motorcycle sector... for example... I bought these Chinese plastics thinking I was buying OEM...
You guys have helped me out a little bit. I'm not real thrilled that I'll ultimately end up spending over $1,000 on repairing stupid like this. I do pay for uninsured motorist/road hazard so I was hoping to get the insurance to help out. Sounds like the long-term costs usurps an insurance claim.
It'd sit better with me if I at least dropped the bike or something but... this from normal riding on our precious highways... ugh!!! That irks me because this break is not from mere wear and tear. I hit something. I guess it is what it is...
