New to motorcycling

I am very new to motorcycling. I have my eye on a cruiser after having completed the required BRC at Awesome Cycles a few weeks ago and was referred to this forum by my instructor Walter. I look forward to learning a lot from others' experiences and find the format and layout very comfortable.

Make sure you wear what some consider proper gear. I just learned how important it was to satisfy the requirements of some members. You never know when you may need help.

Welcome to the two of you.
Remember this is a semi anonymous internet forum. These things breed trolls, like myself. So, please, make sure you have a thick skin, take everything you read with a grain of salt and enjoy.

As for a cruiser I recommend Honda (grew up around them and own them), but really all the manufacturers make a good product.

I would recommend buying used and small displacement. Make sure you get comfortable on it then trade up if you like the sport.

If you stay on this forum you may get the sportbike bug, so try out some of the track days (have rentals in Houston) and see if you like those as well.

Oh and skip the 750 honda shadow. The 600 is a nice small one and the 1300 is (I've heard) a good ride, but my 750 kinda sucks. Still I hit 50 mpg yesterday. Woot.

Depending on your riding you may want to check out the dual sports if you want to get away from it all.

Good luck, ride safe and have fun.
