Thumbs up Laverty fastest in tests

Eugene Laverty's first two days as a Yamaha World Superbike rider came to a satisfying conclusion at Magny-Cours as he came away with the unofficial fastest time from testing.

The Irishman was not only making his debut with Yamaha at the post-season test, but also embarking on his first-ever Superbike outing having plied his trade in prototype and Supersport machinery in his career so far.

Nonetheless, the unofficial timesheets placed him as the fastest rider on the second day of testing in France, his 1min 38.8secs best proving four tenths faster than Leon Haslam, who made a strong debut aboard the BMW S1000RR.

For reference, Laverty's time would have placed him in the lower half of the mid-field during Superpole over the race weekend, though the different weather conditions and testing programmes makes comparisons difficult.

Just six riders would have their lap times counted at the end of the day, with Tom Sykes giving Kawasaki a good base to work from with the new ZX-10R, his 1min 39.3 proving faster than Troy Corser on his BMW, the Australian himself running several 2011 developments this week.

Finally, former Ducati Xerox team-mates Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio were classified with the same 1min 40.0 lap time aboard their respective DFX-Borciani Aprilia and Suzuki Alstare machines. Haga was forced to end his day early after a fall.

Unofficial lap times from Magny-Cours (day two):

1. Laverty (Yamaha) 1min 38.8
2. Haslam (BMW) 1min 39.2
3. Sykes (Kawasaki) 1min 39.3
4. Corser (BMW) 1min 39.9
5. Haga (Aprilia) 1min 40.0
6. Fabrizio (Suzuki) 1min 40.0
Go Eugene,
first time out on a superbike too
and Haslam faster than Corser

Spies, Crutchlow, now Laverty. Massimo knows how to get his man.

Melandri hopefully will not "do a Toseland" and run at the front too

Wankers, the lot of 'em!

I truly expect the racing at all levels in motorcycles to be exactly what it's proported to be!

I can't wait to see what next season holds, and we've still got 4 rounds of MotoGP to go!
I am Tyler Durdin's bad attitude.
