I got a warrent ? for ya!!

ok so i know someone (ME) who let's say lost a ticket she got, and when she called to see when the court date was, they laughed at her and said it had passed and now she(I) have a warrent.
OK seriously I have NEVER had a warrent so what do I do.
I was told to go see a bail bondsman and get the warrent taken care of and they will reset the court date. is this right? The courts want me to pay $675 to take care of the warrent and the ticket, when i talked to a bail bonds place, they said they would take care of the warrent for $135.
I just need to know if going through bail bonds place is the right thing to do?

Is it City of Houston? If so, call 311 and ask them. The bail bond place will only get the warrant lifted, you'll still have to pay the 'Failure to Appear'

Yes, the bail bondsman will guarantee the court that you will appear to court on another set date once it's reset. Probably still cheaper than paying the ticket out right.

pfft... a day in jail isn't going to kill you Nikki...

24 in jail Vs. $675

you make the call, if you pay the bail bondsman money he is just going to reset the date and you may have to pay all that money anyways...

you're best bet would be to call a good traffic lawyer and pay him to go to court... they usually get the failure to appear dismissed and then you can take defensive driving or deffered for the speeding ticket

I had the same thing happen....I was on my way to court, and it was right around Hurricane Allison, and I never made it there, I gave up in traffic on the freeway at 9:30pm, My court time was 5pm (yes I was in traffic 4 hours). By the time i got home, I had like 10 messages from 10 different bail companies.

Go to a bail company and they will take care of it....DON"T go through the court you will pay a 100 times more through them. The bond compnay will take care of everything.

I think the bail bondsman charges you 10% of the warrant. They're basically 'promising' the court that you'll be there. If you've got the cash then leave them out of the loop and go down and pay the warrant fee or Failure to Appear and reschedule your court date. If you don't, then get a bail bond.
