Girls Ride Too

Hey everyone,
I have been riding since March '10. I know, not a long time, but hey we all have to start somewhere right? I bought my bike as a birthday present for myself on my 21st birthday. I don't get to ride often but when I do I am completely in love with it! I love riding but I also love learning to take care of my bike. So far all I have been taught is too clean and lube the chain. Where would be the best place for a girl to go if she wants to learn motorcycle maintenance?

I am sure that a lot of people on here would be glad to help you learn, from advice to showing you how. There are also You Tube videos for just about everything. Not saying you should jump into something after watching a video, but it might give you a general idea of what is going on.

Do they have a schedule for that, or do you just have to call and ask or wait for a new thread? I looked around their sponsor site but haven't seen anything yet that answers my question. Will look further.

Here is the Motorcycles Unlimited link for the new member.

Thanks for the info guys! I will definitely check out Motorcycles Unlimited. Sometimes it sucks being a girl rider because I feel like such a stranger to the whole 'How a Motorcycle Really Works' thing. That stuff just seems to come much easier to guys.

LMAO. I have a friend who has been riding at least 6 months longer than I have. We both took motorcycle lessons last summer and he beat me to getting a bike. He rides a Kawasaki ZZR 600 and he's totally learning the hard way that a bike needs to be maintained and then ridden. I'm learning form his mistakes.
Nightster Ridester, thank you for the honesty :] some stuff makes more sense now. Haha.

Welcome to the forum chica.

Definitely take the Motorcycles Unlimited class and don't forget to ask questions! We all started as newbs. It helps to have your own basic set of tools too.

Protect yourself! Helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots.

Good luck! As Cali said, don't be shy-- come to the northside to some rides!
