Just curious how did the plate snap off? Was it the mount or the actual plate?

Edit: Go to your tax office with your insurance and tell them you need a new plate. You'll have to pay for a new registration and plate.

I actually know the answer to this one. I JUST got back from the tax office doing the exact same thing. I was on a ride last Sunday and lost my plate. It's a piece of cake.

Google Texas VTR-60 and download the PDF form. This is a one-page form for replacing a lost or stolen plate.

Fill it out and go to the tax/tag office. It's only $6.25 and they give you a new plate on the spot as well as another registration decal and paper (check the box for plate AND for registration sticker) - no extra charge. It was almost too easy for being a government function and all...

Oh, and you don't need any additional paperwork - just the VTR-60 and your driver's license. They already had your insurance, inspection etc. when you got the plate the first time.

That which did not kill me has only made me a lot more stiff and sore the rest of the time.
