The OHP busas were seized bikes, and were originalyl commissioned to "develop a relationship with the sportbike community." Yea right. Those fvckers patrol.............don't ask how I know.

mainly because 'sport bikes make bad police bikes. police bikes are seldom, VERY seldom used for pursuit. A bike is an extremely poor pursuit vehicle. What it makes up for in speed it lacks in mass - it's easy for a bad guy to run a bike off of the road.

Police bikes are mainly used for traffic (speed) enforcement. They conceal easily (see -write a lot of tickets), are cheap to maintain and get great MPG.

Also, there is a trend in America (a rightful one I believe) that American police forces use American made vehicles. Sadly, this limits them to HD bikes, which I hate to say are dinosaurs compared to some of the yamaha, BMW and Honda sport-tourers. It's a shame there's no real American bike that fits that mold.

I love how a cop in a cage can be so fast to write you a ticket for an exhaust noise violation when I've see cop Harley's that flat out DEMOLISH the decibel restrictions for passing inspection.

True, but you will pay more for mistakes on a bike than in a giant crown vic. and any decent civil prosecution would use that as an argument to get a bunch of money out of a department if they advocated high speed pursuit on a bike. Juries will typically have poor views of sport bikes in general.

Still I like cashtown's answer better. You can't pit with a bike.

That F4i is not and was never a police bike. It was a feature bike in Two Wheel Tuners a year or two ago.

lol, though I could see justification for that bike as a police bike - like a Harley, take a slow bike with brakes (only one front rotor on that F4i)and put a great big wide tire out back. sounds like the norm.
