How long do you keep your keys after a bike theft

I always wondered about this. I knew a guy that had a set of keys to a truck that got jacked years earlier. We used to make fun of him for keeping them that long.

A friend would ask him if he ever went out on the porch and shook the keys and called out to his truck like a dog. I know its cruel but it had been years.

So do you keep them for keep sake or chunk them?

I have the keys to a 1983 Seca 900 that was stolen in '86, I just never could bring myself to throw them away.

I had a '92 Mustang GT that was stolen from me in '99. When I moved to my house in '04, I found the keys in a box I loved that car and I was sad when I found them. I still have them, and funny enough the alarm button still works....(though a lot of good it did the day it was stolen )

A friend had a restored '60s Chevy truck stolen in Dallas. Couple of years later he found it in Houston. He'd kept the key on his key chain all that time, unlocked the truck and drove away. The police said he shouldn't have driven it away and it was not as nice as it once was. As he'd only liability insured it, it was at least a moral victory.

Forever is a good option to keep the keys (and title).

I carry the busa key incase I see it.

I have no problem looking over any bike anywhere. The people that are skiddish when I do are the ones I make sure I look over closer. Only had two altercations since March from doing this.

most insurance companies will make you send them your keys in the mail if you claim the bike on your insurance. In most situations they will require it before they cut a check.
