The Economy So Far In 2009 = Affected Your Riding?

So, here we are, almost seven months into 2009. The economic climate is quite a bit different now than it was last year at this time, isn't it? Has it affected your riding?

yep...haven't done a trackday since April 4th (but did 6 between Jan-Apr). Too hot and too much money to be worries, assuming I still have a job come October I plan on doing 6-8 more.

yes it has, that's the only reason it took me over 6 months to buy another bike after my last one was stolen. I couldn't decide if i should save money, or buy a bike... haha... needless to say i bought a new bike

I think either directly or indirectly economy has affected the number of TD I've done this year:

*Workload: I am way more busy than last year.
*Personal finances: although I am making good money still, because of the uncertainty of losing my job I am saving way more than last year.
*Number of dates available: some TD orgs have reduce the number of available dates thus making it more difficult to fit in your personal schedule.

By this time last year I had done around 10 - 12 TDs. So far I have only done 6 or 7.

Well, aside from seriously reducing my need to commute... still haven't gotten my final check either. Bastages are really starting to tick me off.

Since I didn't have a bike last year I am riding more.

Also using riding/ socializing as an escape from the economy and its related stresses - so once again more riding.

More riding and more exercise is better than more drinking to deal with the stress.

Motorcycling in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

Started street riding last year after a 15+ year hiatus because of gas prices.

After remembering how much fun it is havent bought a new bike because of the economy.

Yes on both parts, ride more, spend less...

I've spent more money on this this year than any other... especially since my offroad excursion.
I've cut down on some other things here and there, but not much.

Yup...was getting ready to use my Ride Smart trackday I got for Christmas then got laid off two weeks before I was going to use it. I try to drive the bike when I can because it get s better gas mileage than the truck by far. I've slowed down my street riding because I can't afford a ticket.

I guess it's yes and no
