And Limelight for a minute. Hung out with Depeche Mode there after their 1990 Violator show at the Woodlands. This place was our go-to on Friday nights for a couple years, hip hop room downstairs, industrial dance upstairs.

6400 thats the same owners that own roxy in galleria, drinkhouston, eldorado ranch back in the day, i used to work for them (dj and security) good peeps but i had to get a real job......
Uhhh....nah. 6400 is what contributed to the end of that golden era of dance clubs. They just took the actual earlier 80's grandaddies like NRG, Numbers, Xcess, Rich's, Starck Club in Dallas, among others in TX long before 6400 (including Fizz & Hippo's in that exact same building) & commercialized a watered-down version of the lifestyle for radio & TV. It was more like watching/hearing a soundtrack to a movie that Hollywood thought the H-town club scene was really like. It had it's moments super late at night but I'd estimate only 40-50% of what they played warranted legitimate "club" music, the rest was synth pop, wave, new beat/new romantic fluff you'd hear on the radio every hour (B52's, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, etc).

There's a reason they never recovered from the fire to rebuild...it was over. A year later it was finally rebuilt from the ground up as a live music venue called Back Alley, I helped open it & worked door & security for the first year.
