Fixing an abused exhaust

As most of you know, I recently got me an SV. The SV has an aftermarket exhaust and I was wondering if there was a way to clean/repair/make it look new again, without dropping the change for a whole brand new can. I added a pic to visualize what I mean. Thanks.

looks cleaner then mine, i gave up on my exhaust.

i think i bought mothers polish, but you gotta really rub it to make it shine. would be easier if i had a electronic polisher, but i did it all by hand.

anyways that was long time ago, my bike pretty much just sits dirty.

^^^ Bingo; debadge it; better to remove and separate the aluminum from the CF to not damage it. I personally like the brushed alluminum look using fine grit sand paper but some like the shine of a buffer

the product in the link is most likely fine. you might want to check the length. your can looks to be a shorty, probably is do minimize the damage. I'm not sure about revitalizing CF. If there is still a good layer of clear on it then I would drill the rivets, take it apart, give it a good wet sanding followed by polishing and put it back together. You can leave the AKRO badge off, just pop a couple rivets in the holes. You might also consider putting it back together with the otherside facing out if it's in better condition.
