What time is a good lap time at TWS (Texas World Speedway)
I am fairly new here and kinda new to track days and was wondering what times are considered good.
I have worked on my lines on the last 2 track days and on my best lap I did a 1:59 or so , thats without having to get stuck behind anyone staring at the front of everyone. With all the traffic on level 2 I am running 2:10. Just dont wanna do too many aggressive passes while I am not too comfortable passing riders when that I dont know how they are going to react in the turns. At first it was "cool" passing people but I dont know about that now, with people doing weird things sometimes when you least expect it. |

move to level 4 if you're trying to get lap times... if you aren't ready for level 4,, then you shouldnt be worried about lap times.

Sub 2:00 at TWS (Texas World Speedway) is fine for Level 4 or Group A w/ LSTD. I would even say that sub 2:05 is OK. If you can do a smooth, cool, predictable sub 2:05 all day long w/o even thinking about it, then you're good to go IMO.
If I were a long-time faster level 4 rider, I would much rather have a guy running a predictable line 2:05, than someone dropping below 2:00, having 1 -pucker moment after another. It's not just lap times, it's the manner in which they are obtained IMO. |

well...when talking about lap times the "or so" in your 1:59 or so comment can go ahead and be left out. You are either running that or you are not. And it needs to be based on YOUR timer and not the timer of some dude who said he was running that and you were following him.
What is a good lap time? I dont think that question can be answered because most, who care about lap times, have thier own personal goals and ideas of what a good lap time is. I'd be estatic over a sub 1:50 lap time at TWS (Texas World Speedway)...while experts that run 1:46ish, regularly, would not. So the best I can offer to you, is that for track days, sub 2 minutes is a nice clip at TWS (Texas World Speedway), for some. For races, you wont get very far running anything over 1:52ish, in novice.(sprints) |

I want to establish a base line and goals to shoot for every track day. The last 2 track days I was just focusing on body position and then on lines. Now that I am starting to hit the lines better and getting better body position, I am looking at times for the 1st time, thats all. |

I agree, thats why I have done 5 track days so far this year, so I could work strictly on body position and lines. Like I was told by an instructor last year, the more I work on lines and body position, faster speed will come naturally. Just work on them lines and try and be smooth and thats what I have been trying to do. I want to learn lines to when someone passes me or I pass someone, I will hold a line and not make someone crash. I would feel terrible if someone crashed cause I got in over my head.
