HELP 2008 R1 code 46!!

Was on my way to work and while sitting at a light, my bike felt like it lost power. Never died. I was scheduled to work in Jamaica Beach today so I made it from LaMarque to about 3 miles before I got to Jamaica Beach and got a check engine light. A 46 popped up on the display and I goggled and itís the stator it seems. I just need to make it 20 miles. Will it die before I make it?? And once I replace the stator, is this a common reoccurring problem or the stator a permenant fix?? Also anyone care to come out and throw a stator in it lol??

it's all good. just trying to figure out how to get it home. best thing i can think of is haul safely and have someone follow me with a portable charger to recharge the battery or jumper cables.

If you jump it off the car, make sure the car is OFF.

Once you replace it you shouldnít have to worry about it ever again unless itís defective or you ride the bike forever and beyond.

How down on power is it?

not too bad. i could tell something had gone wrong because the idle became weak and sound like a "clunk" very light in nature.

When riding it did you feel it dying progressively as you rode more or was it just down on power?

The stator is common on these. Mine went out a few years ago. Check the magnets. If any of them are missing drop the oil pan. Mine exploded and put fragments everywhere. took me about 4 hrs to clean all of them out. Almost 10k miles later no issues with the new one. While youre in there replace both of
the bearings at either end of the flywheel containing the magnets. The cause of my failure was that the bearing on the cover side wore out enough for the magnets to contact the coil.
