ITT: my windows 7 nerdrage

srry have to rant..

got a laptop with win7 recently, and OH MY i hate this .

-show desktop button. moved to other side of screen for no reason. you cant move it. you can make a new one, but only if you want to go through some 12 step windows hack how-to.

-creating toolbars. doesnt work like it used to, you cant have toobars on multiple edges of screen (like one on top, one on left etc)

-taskbar/pinning/start button general asshattery. i dont even have the patience to speak of these things right now.

-explorer likes to show these GUI enhanced shortcuts instead of plaintext copy/pasteable drivepaths, you can click in the bar to get the path...but extra clicks are the ghey.

-classic view. in other versions of windows, this was a godsend, creating some order and sanity from chaos. in windows 7 it only makes the GUI look like classic view, but unfortunatly everything still seems to work like .

-Live (MSN) messenger. automaticly starts when windows starts...now this is nothing new for IM's. but now you have to sign in to turn it off. what if i dont have/want a messenger account right now? try to sign in and it tells you there is an update. you MUST install it to sign in...what if i have slow wifi or 56k connection? what if i just dont want to d/l the update right now, but still dont want it on startup? fine...cant play nice? you get uninstalled, . oh wait...its not in add/remove programs anymore...the hides itself in some worthless called Live Essentials (which should be called Useless), and it takes 10 minutes of researching to figure this out.

it seems everything i try to do with this OS it fights me. like its trying to win an epic battle or something. im going to try to find an old school system mechanic type of customization program to try and rip out all this bloat, garbage, poorly thought out BS, and hopefully end up with something cool. if that doesnt work i am either going back to XP or im hopping on the linux wagon

it...while i am ranting. how the is this windows 7 anyways?

1??? dont remember 1 and 2, but if there is a 3.0 they had to be here
2???
3 windows 3.0
4 win 95
5 win 98
6 ME
7 2000/NT (giving them some benefit of doubt here)
8 XP
9 Vista
10 windows.....7 ? WTF ?

We bought a new machine at work and after a week EVERYONE is wanting
7 off and some version of XP on it.

Changing just for the sake of changing it isn't progress... it just people off....

Just saying...

... it doesnt have the memory leak/stability issues that previous versions did. It's what Vista should have been, but failed.

i as just thinking the same thing. i understand it with a single line but a whole page? absolutely not.

windows 7 does suck big donkey , i upgraded from home premium to ultimate and now half my drivers would not work. dell(retards) would not provide updated drivers either

so my phone cannot be detected through usb, i cannot do certain things through bluetooth, that before we go into performance issues even while running a 4gig system.

same exact problems i had with a previos vista systm, crashes like a .

I ran 98 til it bottomed out and forced myself to go to XP, then saw vista and wanted to kill myself, now 7 comes along and it actually does kick . Personally, I like being able to plug a printer in and vista says "hey you plugged your printer in and i know exactly how this works, sit back and enjoy for 5 seconds while i install it.".

Sounds like you're just whining because some things are different..

My favorite part is how it wont pass out and spew BSOD everywhere. If any application ever freezes, task manager and/or windows key has worked for me 100% of the time, most of the time 7 will tell me the program is jacking off, then shut it down on its own. Widgets, stability, icon-bar, way better task manager, huge amounts of control if you look for it, etc.. etc..

Theres alot of great qualities on 7, basically it took the great things about Vista and XP and smushed them together for epic yumminess of untold quantities. So stop acting like Anakin and embrace the 7.

One of my tech friends who is the biggest windows opponent you'll ever meet is telling me that 7 isn't bad. I'm not willing to make the plunge yet, but I'll believe him.

I'm all for freedom of desktop layout. I was even a huge fan of litestep when it was still being developed, but the loss of putting taskbars all over the place isn't something to be upset about. It should be a note that doing so is, well, stupid.
