craigslist charging $5 per moto for sale post

Yes peeps, that the end of an era...
Starting yesterday craigslist is charging $5 per moto for sale post.

Also, have any of you heard about the VIN scam?
It's happening a lot on Craigslist I must say...

Here is how it happens
They will ask if you had a VIN report for one of those carfax - type reports, from webglobalvin.com, site doesn't seem great.

That site will ask for a credit card for the report, and that's where they will get your money!

Just FYI

cl hasnt been the best place to sell a bike for a little while. i think the last 2 or 3 i sold were through fb marketplace. from what ive seen, you get more people who will text you just to ask if the bike is still for sale and then you never hear from them again, but i still wind up selling fairly quickly most of the time with fb marketplace. cl was also full of scammers. you might have a promising lead on selling a bike, and then they start talking about paypal and a person to pick up the bike, yeeeeah ok whatever buddy.

They've been charging 5 for cars for a while now.

Not sure WTF they are thinking since FB marketplace blew them away even when CL was still free.

$5 reduces the amount of scam posts for sure....and keeps people from bumping their auction resales to the top of the list daily. CL is a great platform for people who don't do face book....like me. As of late, I've had more tire kickers on MH than from CL!

Really? My bike is for sale and someone ask to see the VIN report. I got it and send it to the prospective buyer! The original link he send redirect me to a valid site and so far no issues with my CC. Next time someone asks for the VIN report I will tell them to use the VIN number in the ad.

Thanks for the heads up.

Not quite the same here. My son was selling and just had his own VIN report done from a reputable service. One of the serious (?) prospects asked about the CL VIN report. My son said he has his own and he sent it. The guy just kept asking for it so my son told him to go up a rope.

I have been stuck with that VIN report scam too. When I sold my Versys, I must have had a dozen requests for VIN reports; none from people who actually came to see the bike. Thinking about it,: What fool would accept a VIN report supplied by a seller? Way to easy to doctor the report. If I thought a VIN report was necessary, I would sure buy my own.

Last bike i tried to sell ended up with flakes that arranged meetings, never showed, then called back later trying to low ball (sorry but I am not selling a Dayton 675 with 3k miles for $5k with just about every oem option/add on) and ask if its still available. that.

I think the state DMV website lists a recommended few. I glanced through their stuff when looking for the paperwork on a title transfer.

fb marketplace is the worst!!!!

CL has been promising most times i have posted up for sale. $5bucks isnt that bad but kind of goes against the entire reason it was so popular.
