Be Aware of Counterfeit D.I.D Chains

A friend of mine wrote me this and I'm passing alone...

Quote:
I am the first to admit I am a very aggressive rider. But even with the type of street riding that I do I still get around 15k miles out of a quality o’ring chain.
Now, when I literally destroy a chain in less than 1,400 miles with a 35hp motorcycle on the street I have to question WTF happened.
So I did and sent the chain to D.I.D and here is the reply I got.
We received the chain and sprocket that you sent us for inspection. We did
find that this is indeed a counterfeit chain as we do not make a gold 520V
chain. We are in the process of contacting the seller on ebay to stop
selling these chains. If you have any further questions,
please let me know.

Thank you.

Have a nice day!

D.I.D USA

These chains are also on amazon and other places. Here are photos of who I bought the chain from, what the chain looks like new and after I put my hard 1,400 miles on it.

We changed one out the other day that a customer had recently installed. It had maybe 2000 miles on it.
The old saying still holds; "if it's too good to be true, it probably is".

I got 1 off Ebay and the roller bearings broke after 1000 miles. Contacted the seller they sent me another and that piece of did the same thing. I got tired of it so I just spent the money on a vortex kit this time around. I haul way too much and I'm not risking a chain breaking at triple digits. Buy from a reputable vendor.

Updating this thread as I see people are still having problems with fake DID chains

Here is the official DID link to authenticate the DID chain, if you have a SN.:

I always went with Sprocketcenter.com and never had any issues. DID 520VX3 and did it myself. I would never take my bike to a shop unless it was a last resort. I have a chain tool if anyone needs help.
