fav place to get inspection? dealer? independent?

Its time to get my Guzzi state inspected. I asked Mancuso via email if they would do it on a Saturday morning while I waited: no response. Where do you guys go? Dealer? Independent shop? Local Firestone?

Mundane question, but yeah.

Any state inspection facility can do it. They are not required to ride it and they can’t make you allow them to ride it, but they may ask you to demonstrate a brake test for them. All else is just lights, signals and stuff.

You're in Sugar Land. Take it to the Jiffy Lube right at 99 and 59. They will only check lights and horn. I go there all the time and never have an issue.

The Shell station at Cartwright and Murphy Road is where I go. So much better than the dealerships I used to go to. In and out with no problems. Chris is their inspection guy.

I try to go to auto-specific type places because of my license plate mounting location. Never had an issue.

Kamario,

Perfect suggestion, thanks: Jiffy in SL was easy in/out, efficient and professional. Got the Guzzi inspected, filled the tank and rode almost 200 miles in today's rare cool/dry weather.

Can anyone with headers tell me what you do to pass inspection? Doesn't Harris county require emissions testing? With headers and no cat how do you pass the emissions part of the inspection?

The place that's closest to where I'm at and open when I decide I feel like doing it. I normally use the Car Spa right up the road. Never had an issue with them not having someone where with an M endorsement.

On a bike? There is no emission test for bikes. All bikes have “headers” and the cat is usually not visible due to them being in the front part of the silencer anyways, but you are required to have a silencer, so you could fail for not having one. It still goes back to, no emission tests on bikes, so shouldn’t be a problem. A picky inspector could possibly fail it for the “check engine light” be on though, but I doubt it.

DPS website says all vehicles and including motorcycles YM 1995 and after. I guess I can hope it's wrong.

Diesel powered vehicles and motorcycles are exempt from emissions testing, but are still required to have the annual safety inspection.

I think it's the SAFETY inspection that's required if the vehicle is newer than 1995, not the emissions test.
It's only going to cost about 12 bucks. It's not like when you get the car done.

You are correct. My brain has been in the clouds today for some reason. I selected the box for motorcycles and mopeds and just looked at the counties. I didn't look down further where is says they're exempted. Thanks for the heads up. I'm a Longhorn too! Hook Em'

EFI Auto Services. They are so convenient that you don't even have to take your bike up there to get it inspected. LOL.
