PLEASE HELP SPROCKET AND NUT

I was riding my bike and the bike stopped moving like the clutch went out. I was told by Houston Motorsports that I lost a nut on my front sprocket spun off. I was told then once the nut spun off it caused the casing to strip the thread. They want to charge me up to 2500 in labor not counting parts to fix this... he said this is the part that makes the rear wheel turn.... Does this sound correct.. I have not a big budget and this is a 2008 Yamaha R6s its not even worth 4000 ... does anyone have advise or have an idea that I can get this fixed at a reasonable price.. Yall have always been very helpful.. I am asking for some honest posts and assistance...

Take pics and post them up

This is what's stripped, and yes its pretty major

That looks like a new chain, possibly a new sprocket. Who installed it?

Ouch!

But at least OP has the option of searching for a swap way cheaper than a potential repair. Just takes some research.

Could it be possible to re-thread it? Of course, with the load being applied there, not sure thats a great idea. The engine itself could be cheaper, but then you have to pay someone to do the swap. That could add up.

It's possible. It all depends on how much damage was done to the shaft.
