SUSPENSION SUSPENSION SUSPENSION!!!

all i can say is WOW! awesome service from awesome people.

last year i had patrick and his merry men install some ohlins 25mil fork cartridge kit and ohlins shock in my 600rr....and i was extremely happy with everything.

this year i'm on a new bike, and have concluded that i was outriding the stock suspension on my gsxr, so i sent my forks off to Motorcycles Unlimited to have some Traxxion Dynamics AK20 fork cartridges installed and they also tuned in my penske shock as well. the bike felt great this weekend at MSR-H. i was on some race take offs with 4 trackdays on them....and still managed to do mid 1:40's with EASE all day long. i cannot express the amount of gratitude i have for these guys for making my track life easier.

now it's time for my SV650 to get worked on.....Patrick sold me an ohlins shock for the SV at an awesome price, and now i get the pleasure of having them rebuild my SV forks with racetech internals.

if you're on the fence about getting suspension work done.....just hop on over and get it done....you WILL NOT be disappointed.

if you don't know why you should change your stock suspension, here's something to think about. stock springs are progressive springs, which means they are built for a wide range of riders. you want STRAIGHT RATE springs that suit YOUR WEIGHT and YOUR RIDING STYLE. so if you cannot afford a shock or fork cartridge kit, maybe just look into at least getting springs and valving that will work for YOU. especially us overweight guys, riding with the preload all the way hard and still bottoming out the forks on the brakes is definately not a good feeling, especially while hitting bumps.

if you buy used stuff, also remember, just because the guy weighs as much as you, doesn't mean the spring rating will work for YOU. i'm sure Patrick would be happy to answer any suspension question you guys may have, i'm no suspension pro......i just know what a pro's suspension is supposed to feel like

+1000000000000000000

I can just second that. Patrick and his helper elves rebuilt the suspension on my SV650. Ohlins in the rear and complete new Race Tech internals in the front. The bike just feels awesome and solidly planted on the track. Was it a $200 affair? Absolutely not but in this case you get what you pay for and it was well worth it. I'm also no suspension pro but I trust Motorcycles Unlimited 110% on this one (and multiple other things).

You looked alot more comfy with the goodies on there mang!

After market suspension is the shiznit. I rode Solracer's bike sunday (stock suspension) and man I hate to say it Chris it felt like POOOOOO compared to mine.

Brandon dials my bike in every couple of months and man it feels better and better everytime.

Good to see a thread like this, considering I am debating a few things, suspension being one of them.

is setting the suspension going to sacrifice comfort at all? i like austin trips a lot as it is. but any less comfortable and they would become unrealistic. is the performance gain worth it if it makes the bike more "rigid"?

setting the suspension isn't going to sacrifice comfort....if anything, you'll gain comfort.

the bike will turn better, clean up some of the bumps on the road, and keep both your wheels planted to the ground better.

go see patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited for a basic setup, $25 i believe.

Brandon has my Penske shock and is going to fix what broke when my res. fell off. I hate that it happened but it's good to have someone local who can handle such a project.
