Trail Tool Kit
Anyone carry tools or a tool kit with them on trails? If so what do you take? Carry them in? Store them on yourself or the bike?

I don't intentionally go off road but when I do I have allen wrenches, adjustable, zip ties, pliers and spark plug wrench. Carried under the seat. Did see an ad today from cycle gear for a tool that looks like a swiss army knife of tools. Check that out it is very compact.

I have a camelback but I was planning to use the one I use for Mtn Biking which has a small pocket with barely enough room for a set of keys.
Has anyone seen these? look pretty handy: http://www.mooseracing.com/catalog.j...group_id=12358 http://www.mooseracing.com/catalog.j...group_id=12359 |

I keep all kinds of junk in my camelback, the most used are my 3 way 8,10,and 12mm nut driver and 3 way allen. Also carry a multi tool, sparkplug, safetywire, zipties, and trail marking tape.

With 2 strokes, never go into the trails without a spare spark plug and wrench haha. +1 to what everyone else has said.. Except for motojunkie.. I think he meant to say, "if you ride anything but a KTM, you don't need a tool kit.. If you ride a KTM, you might as well bungie cord your toolbox to your back"

I belive you can never carry enuff. I carry a multie tool , zip ties(life savers), spark plug wrench with not just one but even 2 or 3 spark plugs. Tire tools and maybe even a tube with a co2 canister. Allen wrenches and 2 scew drivers. Some companies will sell you a tool kit specified for your bike.

Most people who say KTM's suck either never have owned one or just heard of people who abuse them and then say there junk. And no you cannot say that a KTM 450 motard breaks down more than a Honda. |

Just out of curiousity, how big of a camel bak do you guys lug around? Some guys are saying they carry their tools in there so I'd imagine it'd be a small back pack size?

These big enough for some tools, keys etc? I was looking at a MULE but didn't know if it would be too big hanging off the back of a chest protector.

I perform all my maintenance with my tool kit. (not including major engine work/rebuilds) If I come across something I need, I find a way to integrate into my kit.
![]() I carry one of these: ![]() My camel back just has water/hydration in it. |
