Weekend in Austin

It was a great weekend in Austin! To think this was the first time ever that I've actually been to Austin to explore and do fun stuff, rather than be there for a meet and leave afterwards (and I've lived in Texas my whole life!). A good friend of mine let me stay for the weekend went to the AF1 meet Friday night and met a bunch of nice people, they put on a great event stopped by the hand built show Saturday. They moved to a different location, now you have to pay $15 just to get in to park on a motorcycle! not worth it IMO, guess they figured everyones bikes outside put on just as good of a show than what was inside the venue. But at the same time, the wristband granted entry to the venue, and they seemed to have more stuff this year Austin Speed Shop had a meet and greet with Kevin Schwantz among other really interesting people. I finally had the opportunity to meet Kevin and talk for a little about first-generation GSXR's and racing. His GSXR race bikes did inspire some cosmetic aspects of my build after all, and it was awesome getting to show off my bike some and getting it autographed! I met Ed, Lindsey and Jessica there repping motohouston they spotted me first, lol. When I left, the fog in the area was so intense that I couldn't see 10ft in front of the bike, and had to constantly wipe off my visor. Atop bald tires, this was easily one of the most dangerous rides home I had in a while. Sadly I didn't get to make it to Moto GP again this year, but Im pretty certain ill make it out there next year. It was perfect weather on Sunday too. To finish off the weekend, the guys at AF1 let me take an Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 for a spin after our conversation Friday night. Fun machine for sure, wish they still made the 1200cc version, that would be an interesting ride and one I'd consider buying

Both are fun roads especially early in the morning on a sat or sun before the cagers get out.

They were both way better in the 80's!
Had a pretty good wreck on 2222 when I was about 21. Smeared myself and a girlfriend across a gravel shoulder! Ahhh, good times, good times

Now there's so much traffic, stop lights and cops, they aren't what they were for sure.

My favorite is Hamilton Pool Rd aka 3228 Take 71 W to Bee Cave, L on Hamilton Pool Rd. Turns into 962 past the preserve. You can cont. on to 281 to Round Mountain and take 281 up to Marble Falls for pie at Bluebonnet Cafť.
