Ram 1500 Owners?

Anyone here have experience with the Ram 1500? Looking at picking up a lightly used 06-08 model. One of my friends has an 06 and it's nice, solid, runs well and looks good. But I would appreciate some more owner feedback if any of you have experience with them.

Don't care to hear about other brands/models right now... just mainly concerned about the Ram 1500.

Thanks...

Had mine brand new since 05,

Haven't had any real issues at all with my truck. I had to change out the wiring for the battery, other than that, its been a solid truck for me. It will be paid off in less than a year, only 42,000 miles on it. Hope this helped

Stock tires lasted about 37,000 miles on big 20s, not bad considering its a big heavy truck

Biggest problems with the rams, all the rams, that I don't like is the wind noise at the doors. Latest one I own is an 06 and every single ram I have been in and/or owned has lots of road noise from the doors at 70+ mph. The interiors are cheap, but I love my ram. just got a cummins in mine instead.

I've got a few friends that have them, no issues.
I've been driving Dodge's 3/4 and 1 ton trucks for a long time now. So does my wife's family, all farmer/ranchers that work their trucks.
None of us have had any serious issues.
Granted, these are all 3/4 or 1 ton trucks with Cummins, but the body / interior and a few other items are shared with the 1500.

Question, are you looking for a light duty truck or are you wanting to tow something heavier than say 2000 lbs.?

I'd say go for it.

Yep. The only one I've had that was noisy was my 2007 dually.
I adjusted the front passenger door and no more noise.

I've had a few 1500's. The 03 V6 quad cab, 05 V8 quad cab, and 06 hemi quad cab 4WD. I've liked every single one of them just fine and the wind noise doesn't really seem to bother me. The ride quality is particularly smooth in comparison to my Ford F-150 that I owned prior to going Dodge.

I haven't had any problems of any sort with any of the trucks, but then again the 06 is the only one that I've owned for a period longer than a year.

The interior is definitely sparse, but that's how I like it, only the things that you need, and no extra BS. One of the better features interior-wise is that the radio comes with an auxiliary jack right on the faceplate so you don't have to change it out to get it to work with your iPod (you can just spend 12$ on an aux cable instead of 100's on iPod adapters or new head units)

Fuel economy is pretty decent too if you don't have a lead foot.

I have an '08 1500. It's a great little truck. I've never had problems at all, but it's only one year old.

i've got an '06 1500 w/ hemi V8. I like the truck alot. Plenty of power, good gas mileage considering the size engine. Sounds good.

The only issue i had was that i had to get some transmission work done to is at about 50,000 miles. But i deserved that with how many burn outs and donuts it did on a regular basis leaving my old work place. Overall i like the truck alot.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone, really appreciate.

The growing family is forcing me to get rid of the Mustang and there are tons of great deals on lightly used Ram 1500s. The appearance has always appealed to me but I have limited first hand experience with them... so I appreciate the feedback.

On a side note, has any ever dealt with Texas Direct Autos in Missouri City? They have a several with low miles around $16k - $18k...

LOL...read my e-mail. I have spoken with several people who have been very pleased with their TDA buying experience. The only thing that bugs me about them is their vehicle prep...they grease the out of everything with vinyl/leather/rubber dressing.

TX Direct Auto deals with lots of sport cars. I have been there a few times and have had good experiences. They have decent prices, and seem to have very nice, CLEAN, cars.

My 05 Ram

Love my 05 Dodge Ram Daytona, maybe a heavy sport truck but when I need her to go she handles anything I put on her. Sexy a$$ truck too. Only hassle I got is taking the wing on and off. But hey thatís how they made her. And have enough horses to pull just about anything I want, with the hemi package. Love that truck.
