Need a Microsoft XP - OEM Disk

HELP! I need to borrow an OEM XP disk. I have one - somewhere - but it's been a couple of months and I cannot locate it. This is for a RE-INSTALL, the computer ate one of it's .dll files? I've dinged around with the settings so much, that I no longer get the error message that tells me which files are lost/missing. It will load to the "Hit F? for User ..." It will not load past this point. It just waits.

I just need to borrow a disk for a couple of hours. The computer it will be loaded onto has the hologram XP sticker and code, I just need the disk.

I don't want a copy, I don't want to do anything sneaky, or underhanded. I'm not trying to get a free copy of a windows program. I just want the computer to work again.

Thanks in advance.

it wont be a real disc but a copy. as long as you are using your product key its still legit. (when you get windows you pay for the license not the cd)

The sticker says Windows XP Home Edition. Doesn't have the sp2 on it?

tony if its a dell machine you have i can make you a copy of a DELL OEM version of xp pro, this way youll be able to reinstall as many times as you may need to in the future without needing an activation key.

When I worked retail tech I worked on dells, hps, emachines, gateways, comaps, acers, you name it. They all had to be activated. AFAIK the only versions of windows xp that do not require activation are early releases of the volume licensing editions. Also you can reinstall as many times as you want even with activation. Just have to call the 1-800 number and waste 5 mins of your time and your done.

ive installed this on countless dell machines and have never had to enter an activation key. ever. just make sure youre online and it always activated automatically. ive also used this disk for other brands of pc and laptops, but i had to have a key for those.

It's a self built from Fry's Electronics on 45. I bought the XP OEM disk at the same time. $200 bucks back then. I don't want to spend anymore money on a machine I've already given to my son. I don't mind downloading it and making my own disk. I appreciate any help. I've had to re-load it twice in the past 3 years. Both times I had to call the 1-800 number and waste my time. I wish I could find my own disk, but it's just gone.
