I-45 North inbound closed - Feb 7

I was on the HOV this morning, on a 6am bus, and traffic moving alot slower than normal. We get near I-45 and main St and it becomes apparent there's an accident. All of the main lanes are closed, and there's even an accident on the HOV due to rubbernecking I assume... Anyway, I get to the scene and all i see is a motorcycle down and a truck with a trailer hitched. Thoughts and prayers are going out to the rider and rider's family. Stay safe out there y'all.

Houston police Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner said that the motorcycle officer reported that another vehicle cut him off. He said the officer, per his training, bailed from his bike as he was about to lose control of it.

Finner said the earlier information about the officer being hit by an 18-wheeler turned out not to be true.

An off-duty firefighter and other motorists stopped and helped block traffic until officers arrived, Finner said.

“That for those citizens,” Finner said, as he recounted the officer’s worries of being hit by other vehicles around him.
