Who knows about older Jeep CJ7ís?

Can anyone provide info regarding a Ď79 Jeep CJ7 regarding their value? I have a family member who is getting old and has started selling off some of his old car collection. Last week he sold a Ď72 Ford Ranchero 429. Hew working with a consignment lot and I think heís selling stuff too cheap. The Ranchero sold in just 45 minutes being put up for sale on the lot for $7500. It was a sweet car, he was just the 2nd owner and had it for over 30 years. Now he is selling a Ď79 Jeep CJ7. He had a company install a brand new 360ci crate motor in it years ago and never drove it. New OEM motor, it remanufactured. I think he paid almost $4000 for that be done. It has been garage kept since then. He goes and starts them every couple of months. It just has the soft Bimini too, no hard top. Itís ckean and in pretty much original condition. Iíve heard that the Ď70ís model V8 Jeeps have become increasingly popular these days. Does anyone have a guess about how much it might reasonably sell for. Not trying to hit a homer in and get absolute top dollar, rather sell for at a fair retail price that would make it move. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I've seen them anywhere between 14k-28,000 for a good clean CJ7. Really depends on the options and work done. Been looking at them and following prices since 03

Want to buy one? I’m going to purchase this Jeep from him and flip it. I have been hearing like $10,000-$12000 or more. Your info helps confirm my thought there is value in this Jeep and I don’t want some random car lot to be the one to profit from. Keep it in the family at least. I’ll be meeting with him this week and will post more info then. I was intrigued due to the fact he paid to have a new factory V8 installed and never used it. Thanks for your info!

You could always call Collins Brothers Jeeps in Dallas. That guy knows all things Jeep. He could give you an accurate, honest value.

Is it a 3 speed or 4?
Original d20 transfer case or upgraded to the d300?
2 piece rear axles or upgraded to 1 piece?

It looks real nice from that one pic. It should fetch a pretty good price. Ragged out ones are still going for $4-6k, Decent ones $5-8k and unmolested rust free ones are an easy 10-12k and up. Although I canít justify that kind of price for one, knowing what I paid for both of mine.

So was the motor remanufactured or was it a new crate motor when installed?

It was a new AMC 360ci. Motor. Not remanufactured. He has all documentation. $4800 worth of motor swap/transmission work. A whopping 250 miles put on it since that work was done. It’s original. No upgraded axle/ diff stuff, garage kept and covered, 3 speed.
