Observation

Finishing my Harley project I have discovered when reassembling the motor and installing in bike you will use more chrome polish than assembly lube

I remember thinking I kept my Harley spotless...

The first time I tore her down, I was amazed how much dust and oily grime collected where I couldn't see or get to with a rag. Ever since then, I would take it apart once every 2 months and do a deep clean. I would go through a bottle of polish at least 3 times a year... And that's just a slow year. If I was hitting the shows, I'd buy a case for the year.

Had a pickup with chrome wheels and exhaust tips in high school (because high school). I would polish that chrome once or twice a week (again, because high school). I've just done my time. lol

I use to use nevr-dull back when I was a teen. I remember the countless bottles of paint stripper and hours upon hours of rubbing that cotton till my rim lips were mirror finish... Which snowballed to frame and swingarm

I used Turtle wax because it was the least manual effort with the relatively best results. I still remember how EACH AND EVERY polishing session would go.
Id be fired up to get it done and start on the exhaust tips. Nice and round and regular shaped. Polished quick and easy...then id get to the stupid wheels and remember how much I hated it.

Iím right there with you. Iím hitting parts as the go on and adding some wax so maybe they will stay cleaner longer.
I polished on my wifeís BB Fairlane for years going to shows - that car is gone, but this bringing back bad memories. The sucky thing is, if you donít keep this new crappy chrome polished and waxed it rusts and pits. If it didnít cost do much, Iíd just matte out the bike

Yup, thin plating is easily jacked up if not maintained. Then there's no real coming back, except to strip and re-plate.

Powder coat and exhaust wrap for any cruiser I end up with.

But it's so hard not to have blingy things... At least that's the case for me.
