Heyyyy
Probably should be posting this under the introduction forums but...felt this place to be more appropriate lol anyway... been wanting a dirt bike since I was a kid and i finally bought one a few weeks ago.
It'd be cool to meet people who ride hence why I'm here. I have a 2020 KLX140L 😎 |

Right now, I'm just trying to get hours in wherever I can. I've only had the chance to ride it once 😅,when my friends taught me in a field behind their house....but they're a married couple so can't be all up in their space asking if I can come over y'know? Lmaooo
So really just trying to find places to learn before I hit any of the tracks. Because I would eventually like to get into mx racing. But I'm down for trail riding too, considering I have a trail bike lol honestly, down for it all, I just wanna get out and ride 😎 haha |

No reason not to go to the mx track. Lots of fun and plenty of dirt. Rio bravo has woods to ride in and so does three palms. They also have little tracks for people starting.out

True. Guess I'm just a bit intimidated by the mx tracks? I've literally only had the chance to ride once.... for like 15 mins 😅 just enough to learn how to go haha. I think I'll try going to 3 palms Saturday 🤔

I didn't know hitting the go-kart tracks was a thing! That's cool, I may look into that. Honestly wouldn't be such a bad idea having that set up too being in this concrete jungle 🙃 |

Have you looked for groups on Facebook around motorcycling the Sam Houston National Forest? I have a KTM EXC that is a lot of fun on the single tracks though the forest. You do need to get a state issued Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) sticker for your bike and pay the fees to use the forest (day pass or annual pass).

Do you go out to ride out there a lot?? Is there a lot of riders that go out there? I'd imagine the weekends are the busiest. |

I also deleted my Facebook account a while back. I have one now just for motorcycling, unfortunately. Yes, there are a lot of folks that ride up there, but it has never been so crowded that it has been a problem. Yes, you will occasionally meet others coming the opposite direction from you. You just need to meet the right folks.

I see. I think I'd get nervous about getting in anybody's way but I guess if there's enough room to where the occasional rider comes the opposite direction, there's enough room for others behind me to pass me up...
But yea, you're right about meeting the right ppl. |

You might want to check out two wheeledtexans.com, they’re mostly about adventure riding, but there are some that ride SHNF regularly. Generally older folks that would help you learn how to ride and maintain your bike.

Hi 713Mija,
Hope you are doing well, Welcome to MH & congrats on your first dirt bike purchase, I also want to suggest you one more thing. If you have bought your dirt bike recently then I hope you don't have gear with you, so. I suggest you slowly buy proper gear for you like Helmets Goggles Jackets Jerseys Gloves Pants Boots These gears will keep you safe. Happy riding. |

Hey! Thank you 😄
And yes, that's exactly what I have been doing...slowly purchasing gear. First things I got were helmet and boots. I actually bought mx pants and jersey today. I just need to go glove shopping. Would hate it to order them online only for them not to fit and have to return them... Eventually I'll get more gear like a roost guard .... such an expensive sport lol 😵 |

Hey lol I still have the same riding buddy but we still don’t get to go out to ride as much as we’d like to.
I still *try to ride tho! I bought a year membership to 3 palms to force my to get out to ride more but again, kinda dependent on when my buddy can get out. |
