It just seems to me that these people are so rich, they have a different outlook on "wealth."

Not really. It's just that Romney's wealth has been a focus after being demonized for his venture capitalist work. As a result, any comment him or his wife makes is immediately scrutinized by the class warfare crowd.

It really is nothing more than a distraction.

wealth is more than money to some folks... who knows, with her family and friends, she may not be wealthy.....and if not, that is sad.

They just say these things because most people dislike rich people. The fact is Romney is extremely wealthy because he was successful in a field that takes on more risk over one weekend that most people take on in their entire career. If most people were trusted with tens of millions of dollars to invest in risky startups they would get an ulcer within two weeks. The second one of those investors called up threatening litigation because they aren't happy with their return, most would have a nervous breakdown. I don't necessarily like Mitt Romney as a politician but as a business man he crushed it and earned every dollar so I hate it when they have to downplay their success because of all the jealousy out there.

I'm def not discounting him as a business mastermind since he did earn his money, but the wife pandering to the class conscious is what strikes me as odd.

Promote investments by reducing capital gains taxes.

Then punish the people who do exactly what you promoted them to do.

All part of the problem. We have so-called "leaders" who have no concept what it is like to live as we do; re-fuel into an automobile, balance their own checkbook, or even shop for their own groceries. How can such a people who are so far removed and have virtually no concept of living as the average citizen does even be capable of contemplating what is in their best interest? Romey's wife probably doesnt even know which side of the car the gas lid is located.

That's true. From all the conservative candidates though, I like Romney the most. Unfortunately he just doesn't connect with the regular people.

When he went to some Nascar race (to "connect" with the working class voters), reporters asked him if he watches Nascar and the only answer he could find was: "No but I know the owners of some of the teams here..."

I hear whatcha saying...

But I don't live on welfare and government housing so does that mean I don't know how the "average" citizen lives?

Personnally I would much have financially successful people in charge over your average Joe. Average Joe is average for a reason.
