"End of The World", Mayan Calendar, Dec 21st etc...

Since now its 2012 lets talk Apocalypse.

Post info both factual and rumor about whats going down or not going down in dec this year. I love watchin TLC, History and DISC channels whent hey play programs involving this stuff.

The thing Ive seen a lot of lately is people buying up missle silos and converting them to post apocalypse/anti-zombie dwellings..

People have been predicting the end of the world for a long long time, yet we're still here.
Here's my viewpoint; IF the world is going to end, you can't do about it, so why waste time worrying about it.

I'd be worried more about it becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy more than anything. A bunch of nut jobs thinking the world's actually about to end and going crazy leading to riots/looting or something like that.

i hear something called "christmas" will be occuring this december. expect ppl to go into debt in preparation for this day. they usually dont care though.

i predict the sun will turn into a red giant in a few hundred million years and consume/scorch anything left on the planet

I like how they try to tie in normal nature activity into the end of the world

religion "holy ....the earth opened up, its the end of the world"
science "dude, we are sitting on a fault line"

religion "its a tsunami, punishment for our evil ways"
science "its tsunami season and its a island in the middle of the ocean."

Anyone remember the Y2K fears when rolling the clocks over? Massive power grids down, the economic centers, etc, etc.....well none of that happened. Remember May of 2011 and October 2011....still here....We need to remember that these predictions are man made BS. However, if you do believe in it, send me your cash since you won't need it anymore.

Actually, that's not a bad idea...

Go and troll outside some wako cult few weeks before and get them to give you all...hmmm and if they don't, they're not true believers.

Its simple people the mayan calendar ended because the spaniards killed all the mayans so there was nobody to continue writing it and its not like holy it was a big event, they wrote it till the end of the chapter dec 21st which is the winter solstice, so the dude thought it was a good stopping point... and bam! no more mayans, hence no more calendar...

i have heard some varying ideas on what this date is supposed to mean.

end of the world is of course a popular one

also, nothing at all, just the same as when our calendar goes back to Jan 1.
the maya were excellent star watchers. their calendar was very accurate as to the happenings in the stars around us.

some ideas about the fact that date is supposed to signify Earth crossing the galactic center, and that possibly will have an effect on Earth is a couple of ways.
ive heard that the gravitation forces would be increased and that may have some significant effect of weather.
also the idea that Earth is going through a polar shift ( north and south magnetic poles are changing/reversing.)
apparently this is an event that has been proven to have happened before so it is expected to happen again.

from what i understand if this even happens quickly it will be harmful to human life, earthquakes, volcanoes other natural disasters.
but even if it happens slowly the climate is going to be different respective to current climate patterns for given areas.
examply would be if northdakota became the polar north, or south, it would affect the warm and cold climates off the entire globe.

apart from weather i have also heard this even signifying a change in consciousness.
golden and dark ages may be explained through something like this.

if throughout human history we have gone through light and dark times as far as awareness or knowledge, and also mass extinctions and a loss of knowledge, i personally think that would give a better explanation to say the great pyramid(s) in egypt, and other similar pyramids around the globe.

it does make you wonder how an ancient civilization, supposedly only using hand tools, could build something of that magnitude. not only that, but the fact of the alignment with the stars, and earth.
the pyramid code, on netflix was very interesting, it has a different view on the purpose of the pyramids compared to mainstream ideas.

i feel that if 2012 is some kind of End of the World event, how exciting to be apart of it. i would like to live longer but if the world is supposed to go out with a bang its pretty cool to think that we will be the generation that gets to be here for it.

if nothing happens at all then it will go down in the books as just another false prophecy, like Y2k, wasnt there supposed to be an end of the world thing in may or something 2011? that was pointed out above^

12 months will go by fast so i guess we will just wait and see
