Just raise the minimum wage and everyone will have enough money. Problem solved. Well, except the middle class who will see the bottom rise up to meet them while the top gets further away.

And Tony, if society stops accepting mediocrity, then what would rappers and country music singers have to croon about? I mean cmon, we should be happy that some people want nothing more than to remain uneducated and lack the ambition to improve their station in life. Working hard for your own betterment just takes food out of their mouth, almost like a "survival of the fittest" kind of thing, which doesn't exist in any other species.

If only they realized those tech folks have what they have because they actually worked hard and applied themselves. Stop scraping the bottom and climb up the ladder.

I don't think it is the bottom scrapers that are the cause of this (although I am sure there are plenty on the bandwagon). I think it's the silly folks who "found" this hip screwy town where they could play out their free lifestyle fantasies, and suddenly other people found out about it and turned it into a trend. And when something becomes a trend, the more affluent trend-followers gravitate towards it and price the early adopters out of the market. Then those folks no longer have their screwy little hip town all to themselves, so they get pissy that it lost its charm. Thus gentrification. Same reason why Austin is all up.

Just to play devil's advocate here, is there any slightly intelligent arguments out there to support the protesters view, or is it just smashing buses and ? I'm obviously not expecting much from the Oakland side when I ask this LOL.

So let me get this straight...there are people who work for a company generous enough to provide transportation for their employees and these companies are increasing the value of homes in their area....and other people are mad at the employees for that and have subsequently decided to smash buses and .

Sounds to me like the protestors need to pack their and move to Compton where they fit in.

I would of ran over as many protesters as i could of if i was driving the bus. Make an example out of the protesters that smashed my bus window. Let these idiots know not to with the hard working people who arent doing anything just shuttling to work
