My roadside assistance is provided through my membership in the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). Not sure about the details of it, but it's something you can look into.

isn't there a number on the back of your drivers license for roadside assistance? If so, let your tax dollars actually do something directly for you.

Most road side assistance won't tow you back as far as Houston but rather to the nearest qualified garage to do the work (so for 3 sisters, to San An for example)

Progressive charges less than $1 a month if you add it to your coverage

Progressive won't pay to tow you back to Houston. My experience with them has been less than satisfactory, in all aspects.
Check into AAA. They have different plans. The one I'm on pays for up to a 250 mile tow.

check the fine print too.... saw one that specificly excluded motorcycles in the fine print.

me too, only use once every 3 or 5 years but well worth it for the long tows and it covers the MC

Other option is to check with friends and have them on call "just in case"

Truck + trailer + friend goes a long way towards making the ride back more enjoyable.

Be aware a lot of areas out there don't have any cell coverage.

Also, we found that if they dispatch the tow truck, they have to notify the law... so plan on a ticket if you go down.

Instead of wasting sweet, sweet sticky expensive moto rubber droning down I-10, load the bike in the back of your truck and drive to the area. Park the truck, unload and go ride.
If you have a breakdown, etc. ride with your buddy back to the truck and haul yourself home.

bingo, not many people know this fact, there is a roadside assistance # in small print above the barcode on the back of the DL.
prolly local help to you only, so if your far from home, probably only haul ya to a repair shop
