anyone have an ultrasonic cleaner?

Sent my knife to spyderco for a much needed sharpening and got a letter stating the lock on the failed and they will not sharpen it. I called and the lady said they do not repair knives that they only replace them and offered %45 off any knife I want. Which is great but I want the exact knife I sent them which is an aluminum Police knife that they only made an estimated 300 pieces of in the late 80's and then went to stainless. This is actually my second Police in aluminum that they are trying to take. The first one I sent in cause the pocket clip broke and they said it couldn't be repaired and said I could choose any knife they offer for free. Which I did and was unhappy with the weight of the one I chose. I looked up online and found others who have had luck by sticking the knife in an ultrasonic cleaner and getting the crud out of the locking system. So if someone would be kind enough to let me use one to try this out it would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome! I will let you know asap. I was disapointed Spyderco doesn't offer any type of repair service. They told me since it was pinned together, if its taken apart it cannot be put back together. Which I call bs but I don't work on knives. Used ones on eBay go for over $300 easy if you can even find one so I don't want to go that route.

Yeah, They don't want to pull them apart because it's hard to get them back together the same way since they put the finishing touches on them while they are pinned. I won't pull it apart either, but I can clean the out of it and sharpen it. I used to have the black TiNi Police model, those turned into a collectible not long after I traded it to one of my dealers.

I use a product called Militec1 which is a molecular metal conditioner, it bonds to the micro-pores and leaves no residue after you wipe it off. I'll happily treat it for you even if the sonic cleaning works.

Thanks a lot! I think I've seen pictures of the black police model. Wasn't that also aluminum with a black coating? I wish I wouldn't have let spyderco destroy my first police model over a screw on the clip being stripped out, but they said I could choose any knife they make for free and I jumped at it. Never knew the aluminum police model would turn into a collector knife.
