Exhaust Questions 2020 R1

Okay I know I'm going back on what I said earlier about my R1. I'd like to get a 3/4 exhaust for my 2020 R1 but have questions. The ECU is still locked on this thing and can't get flashed.
  • So for those that have this year R1 with a cat delete system, have you had any issues?
  • Where can I buy an SC Project or Austin Racing system locally or do I need to just order online?
  • Anyone have a system they want to sell?

Not sure about R1s, but on my FZ10, where I removed 1/2 exhaust (minus headers) and replaced it with M4 (which I highly recommend) I ended up using this plug in "servo buddy" to eliminate FI Light for removing exup valve. I've had no issues at all. Yes, it is not the same as reflash, but I was going for more noise and looks factor.

I’ll need the servo buddy for sure since the new exhaust doesn’t have a butterfly valve. So your bike still rode normal such as response or did it feel bogged down in the lower RPMs? How many miles on this setup?

Rides about the same, not any worse or better. I've been like that for about 3k mi. Again this is FZ10 and not R1 so can't comment on how R1 will respond. FZ10 has rough on/off throttle response comparing to my old R1 (2002), but that was even before the exhaust. I do plan to reflash at some point, but the bike is good on power as is, so I've been delaying that.

Thanks for the feedback. I called a few places and nobody carries Austin Racing. Ordered the GP1R de cat from their site and now I wait. Hopefully I get it sometime this year lol.

Do it. You don't need a servo buddy either.

Just let the boys hang or can I still remove the cables without the servo buddy?

I removed everything (but I have servo buddy). I think you need to leave the motor if you don't want to use servo buddy. I read the details few years back on one of the forums.

Naw I'll wait for the ECU flash if that ever even happens.

That makes sense. Leave the servo motor but remove the actual cables.

Yup, just leave the motor in there plugged in. save a few bucks. It isn't that heavy.
