Plasti-Dip Windscreen and Styling...

I scratched my windscreen and thought about replacing it with a new one. But then the inner ricer in me spoke and I listened... And this is what I did. Pics below.

Important notes for anyone that wants to do the same thing. I painted this windscreen several times because I didn't know how to get the LED light to show brighter in the dark.

- Tape off your design so you know how to score it with a blade in the end process.

- Apply several coats of white Plasti-Dip to help reflect the light.

- Next, trap the glow of light through the paint, by applying a liberal coat of black Plasti-Dip.

- Finally, pick a cool paint color of your choice for the top coat. This can be any type of paint. The Plasti-Dip coat is thick and will easily peel off later on. Also, I found the metallic colors will crinkle if you don't lay a coat of primer first.

- After you score the outline of the tape and peel it off, you're gonna want to spray some clear top coat on it. This will add some longevity to your work and protect the coating from snagging and peeling off when you are wiping it down with a rag after a long ride.

- Also, when adhering any LED's to the inside of the windscreen. Just use plain paintable silicone caulking. It'll peel off easy later and bonds pretty well. It also cured enough to paint in like 20 minutes. I used the household type Alex Painters Caulking.

Looks pretty good! I actually have been tossing an idea around in my head for something related/similar in ways, but not exactly like yours. Currently wrapping the bikes new body kit. If my screen idea works, then I'll post up.
