Hill Country Ride June 5-7...

“Pay close attention please because this one is different”

My wife and i and a few others had planned to go this weekend but the big chance of rain caused us to reschedule for these dates.

We plan to ride Fri. afternoon around 2 or so, all day Sat. and possibly Sun. morning.

Anyone wanting to attend is welcome but there is no guarantee that i will lead everyone. I don’t plan on leading a huge group so you may be on your own or hopefully someone else will lead a group.

We will decide the groups each day. I prefer to have riders with cornering experience. The Hill country is a completely different experience than our normal routes. Very sharp curves with lots of elevation changes. It’s not newer rider friendly unless we have a leader that plans to go really slow.

I will be very selective about who rides with us and our group will not be big. I’m thinking maybe 10 riders total. My ride pace will be a comfortable non-stress pace. Knee-draggers will not enjoy my group so you’re on your own. It won’t be newer rider friendly either.

You MUST post if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly. Post the ride pace you prefer so we know how many groups we will need. Again all i’m committing too is my group. Nothing else is guaranteed.

Regardless if you’re in our group or not come out anyway for some great riding. It’s a great experience.

You may not end up in my group due to my limited amount. You may enjoy the other leaders or riding by yourself better anyway...lol

We are staying at the Leakey Inn and our group will start from there.

Questions?...text me at 979-251-6249. If you call i wont answer if i dont know the number.

Frio Springs is also part of Leakey Inn.
https://www.friosprings.com/

My group (will take 10 riders possibly more but no guarantee)
1. Lindz
2. RustinR
3. SouthernFZ09
4. Datboyali
5. Ad713
6. Datboyali friend
7. Silent
8. rideForrestride
9.

I have a few questions. Where exactly is this? Will we ride up there as a group?

You MUST post if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly. Also post your ride pace preference.

All i’m committing to is my group. If we have other leaders volunteer we can have more groups. If not the rest of you will be on your own.

Keith, we recently spoke on the phone. I prefer to be in your group.

I will have 3 riders, including myself. I may have one more, that will be confirmed soon.
Pace: comfortable non-stress pace

All of us are new to Hill Country - but not new to cornering and group rides.

Question on this type of ride. Where do you keep your bikes at night? My son and I have talked about going to ride out there but last thing I would want is a bike to disappear.

No one will mess with your bikes.

, we left our cabins unlocked all day and night.

Kept keys in bikes at night as well.

It's a really small town. No need to worry about anything getting stolen.

I'm serious.

Ok cool. I was going to ask you in your thread but got side tracked then saw this thread. Seems like a fun ride. Don't think we could make this ride since we are both in the a/c business and we will be swamped by then.

Is the Leaky Inn the only place to stay? I'm not having luck finding much information about rooms and rates.

P.S. I apparently have shity search skills as I can never find anything on the internet.

A group this weekend stayed at another set of cabins close by.

Best thing to do is call, not search on web. They are super friendly.

They stayed at Frio Springs Lodges.

Same people who own it. They have a paved driveway, kitchen and sits on the frio river.

Just costs more.

If you like camping, Garner is nearby, and there are quite a few places set up along the river a little further to the south. Off the top of my head, Neal's has some cabins, and you can look around here for more. The River Rd. should have plenty. The prices can swing wildly, so I'd call around to multiple places.

If I wasn't working that weekend, I'd invite ya'll to my place on the river for some hot dogs/hamburgers.

Should be open soon for overnight camping but you cannot make reservations yet.

yeah unfortunately, I've been keeping an eye out on when they will allow overnight camping to the general public as thats what I want to do. they are opening camping back up at limited capacity only to those who have already made reservations way in advance or have annual park passes, I spoke to someone in regards to this matter about 2 days ago
