Tax question V. Any CPA's out there?

What happens if both parents claim the same dependants?

My spouse and I filed married but seperated and claimed both our children on 2009 taxes. We both filed at the same time, but I had to mail mine in because of certain work deduction forms, she was able to do hers at HR block and already got a return. I got my forms mailed back to me saying that I needed a form 8332 in order to claim the kids. I know she isn't going to sign it.

I guess my question is, im not worried about getting a return, I just don't want to IRS to come back some odd years later saying I owe a bunch of fees and back taxes.

Can anyone answer this or do I need to find a CPA elsewhere? Post or PM if any additional info is needed.

You should just correct it so that they don't pay you anything (which they shouldn't allow you to claim the kids since you're wife did) and then you don't owe anything back.

I can just fill out a 1040x form to amend the dependants.
