Instructors Needed

To legally ride in TX, a rider must have an M. To get an M, a rider must take a safety course. That's been the law since 2009 in TX.

Problem: the number of ridercoaches and instructors have been in decline for the past decade, but in the past several years the state has experienced a disastrous freefall, to the point that many sites are struggling to staff classes, making it harder for people to get the training they need.

Becoming a ridercoach requires dedication, a bit of $$, and some time. To see what is necessary, visit https://www.dps.texas.gov/msb/ and click on Applications.

Sadly, the situation has gotten worse. And DPS no longer is in charge of instructor training.
MRH Rider Training is sponsoring a ridercoach preparatory class in the near future and is looking for six interested parties who care enough about motorcycling to pay it forward and help others get started.
Hey, you get PAID to teach others to ride! Coaches needed in Harris, Ft Bend and Galveston Counties.

When will the La Marque (I'm assuming dog track?) location be open?

Is this something that can be done when convenient for the possible coach or does it require an every weekend commitment?

I wouldn't mind doing coaching after I get more experience myself. Still learning myself and my experience is very little at this point. Been mainly just doing short rides within the city. I'm hoping to take a MSF course again this next year. Cheers y'all! Hope there's a few instructors still out there!

I believe we are down to around 250 Rider Coaches in the state. Once you have had your M for 2 years, you can apply to be a coach. Hope you keep the passion to pass on learning to ride to others.

You just don’t apply to be a coach. You have to go thru a 8 day boot camp at A&M and it ain’t no joke. The test, both written and riding, is intense. Good luck!!
