Devil's Hwy Morenci To Alpine Via hwy 191

Wow this must be the most curvy and dangerous road that I have ever been on! It took me over 2 hours to get from Morenci to Alpine using hwy 191. I took my MX5 through this route and had a blast! I can only imagine how much more fun I could have had if I took one of my bikes! I only recommend this road to VERY experienced riders. Here are some pictures of the road. Its too bad you cannot stop and take pictures on the side of the road for the most part of the hwy because it was very very scenic. i will post a video of me driving through this route later!

Deals gap is in my bucket list. Did a ton of research before going to the Devils hwy and most people prefer it than deals gap!

Deals gap sucks. You should ride it so you can say you did then go over to the Cherohalla skyway. It's better.

As promised, here is my looooong video of that route. This is only a 3rd of route 666. Skip around because its too long. The speed limit for most of road was only 15-25mph. I highly recommend you guys check it out if you are going on a roadtrip out west.

I've ridden this road on several occasions. Each time hardly any traffic and a lot of fun. First time was pretty cool when I ran it north to south and it dumps you out in the huge open pit mine.

Yeah that giant pit in Merenci is quite a view. The road is a bit too dangerous on two wheels though.

Well I scheduled some time off this April 5-10 to ride to this area. Besides Cherohalla Skyway and the Tail of the Dragon, what else is out there to see? I plan on staying in the area for 2 days.

Every road you turn on is better than anything within 12 hours of Houston.
Check out the Blue Ridge Parkway, real nice pavement, awesome views. It's a great road.

Truth. Run the dragon once just to run it, then stay off it unless it's the shortest route to/from where you really want to ride. Embarrassing, though, when you think you're hauling on the dragon and get passed buy a dude with his chick on the back. Fuggin locals.

Devil's Hwy is on my to do list again this year since I have a bike garaged in Tucson I can do fly and ride weekends.

End of this month planning on the Full Monty Ozark and Applachian ride. Doing complete end to end of the following; Talimena Scenic Dr - Cherohola Skyway - Tail of the Dragon detour loop - Blue Ridge Pkwy - Skyline Dr and then do a day or two of dirt road riding in WV.
