combustion chamber area

Let me start by saying... I know very little about this at all so I'm just trying to get some general feed back.
At first glance it looks very small. It seems like it wouldn't flow very well. For all know this could be better some how.
Anyway... I'll post a pic in a second from Tap talk.

The difference between 1 and 2 is compression ratio. Smaller chamber means higher compression. Number 1 will have lower compression than number 2. The exhaust valves are bigger in number 1 and will probably flow better.

The pic doesnt really show the size very well. Both are the same according to the specs. Well the exhaust is .05 different. But I think it a typo.
I hope to this week cc them to see it there a difference

cylinder head flow is all in the porting and, of course, valve size. as previously mentioned, a smaller combustion chamber is one factor that dictates your squish zone and compression ratio, among piston deck height and piston dome shape and volume. but im getting ahead of myself, what are you trying to accomplish?

stock vs. stock
SV- 11.5 compression (beat up head)
Hyo- 11.4 compression (cleaner head)

just trying to learn more about it.
I'm going to do pistons and head work to my 1000 next year. so I'm trying to learn more about what is what. When I say "I'm" I mean I'm going to paying someone to do it for me. hahaha.

Since I have an abundance of hyo motors I'm going to play around with a motor with some very basic porting. Yes I know I'm probably going to F it up real good. lol
The reason I posted this is the Hyo head looks very VERY basic. It just seems like that head could really benefit from some smoother edges. again I could be totally wrong.

This. Just because comp ratio is the same on both motors, there's other factors mentioned above. Also, bigger port is not always better. Just because it'll flow XYZ on a bench doesn't always mean its good, cam timing, flow/swirl, valve angles all play a part.

Yeah I hear ya... I'm trying to read up on all of this. I'm in no rush for trying it out.
But I do like do know what the shops are talking about when they try to tell me what they are charging me for

When this first popped up I suspected that was the Hyo head, but I've never taken one off myself yet. Curious to see how this turns out for you
