the reviews for the Maxtor were terrible. Even though I worked at one company where 6 people were constantly hooked up to about 12 200GB Maxtor drives, I just couldn't get past the reviews on Amazon for the 1TB or the 1.5 TB drives. I mean other than the first review, they are all DO NOT BUY, COMPELTE FAILURE, ON MY FORTH REPLACEMENT NOW.

I don't think I have ever seen that many bad reviews. See for yourself:

The LaCie drive arrived last week, dumped files on it all weekend (this one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...sk_Quadra.html )

I would prefer one that stands on the side as it takes up less room, like the one Grinchy pointed out. I just refuse to buy anything "green".

In the process of moving data, Macafee found a PUP. I let the AV program delete it. ZAP!!! The old maxtor drive made so much noise I jumped in my chair. Macafee must have incenerated that segment on the disk.

no reason not to have a backup, and a backup of the backup off site.
