If you get into an accident, good luck on the police notifying anyone. For about 8hrs I was laying in a coma after being lifeflighted downtown before MY FAMILY FOUND me. On me was my chl, (a gun), my driver's license, health insurance card, bike insurance card, the bike had the plates on it, and my phone w/ ICE info. Oh....& the accident was about a mile from my house. The third HCSO officer that got the case that day decided to come tell my family (just past 8hrs after the accident). They caught my family backing out of the driveway, headed to Memorial Herman where they had just found me from calling every hospital in Houston. & yes, the family had called the Sherrif as well and was told they would have to file a missing person's report after 24hrs before they could do anything.
In summary, don't depend on anyone with the police to do anything for you. (knowing all of this, you might understand my FTP attitude) |

when I use to ride the streets and the hill country, there were times that we met people on the ride and became instantly friends without knowing much about each other like basic info such as ICE. I found myself more than once on the side of the road not knowing who to alert when there was an accident and the rider was not conscious. (besides the police) At one point things were so bad with crashes every time we rode as a group that we had to make some basic rules such as: 1. Must have the necessary gear to ride with the group 2. Have everyone sign in for the ride using their ICE info. 3. Have check points where a head count is made by the sweeper and reported back to the leader. 4. Last but not least, report back to the thread of the ride saying that you made back home OK. "there was times that not everyone made back home safe and we didn't found out for days after the fact" ![]() P.S. I miss riding the hill country ![]() |

At work we use these adhesive tags inside our hardhats. Ours I believe are 3m brand but I couldn't find a picture of the same brand but these are basically the same. You fill out the paper, slide it in, and attach it. To remove it, you just pull the tab. I have one in my helmet and on the inside of my jacket. This brand is called Vital ID.
