SJL Accused of Discrimination

Quote:
In what might best be described as an ironic twist, a judge has refused to dismiss a federal lawsuit in which Rep Sheila Jackson Lee is accused of discrimination. The alleged incident involved an aide of the Congresswoman and is related to supposed remarks made regarding the aide’s disability.

Isn’t this the foot being in the other shoe. The woman who said hurricane names, a balanced budget and secret service agents are racist is getting a taste of her own medicine.

She excels at singling out the defenseless for attack. Secret service agents are prohibited from speaking out, a balanced budget doesn’t really ever exist, and hurricanes not only don’t care, but they don’t know what their names are.

Mona Floyd claims in her court filing that Rep. Jackson Lee told her, “I don’t care anything about your disability.” This was supposedly in response to a request for additional time for completion of some duties due to an eye condition, monocular vision, which slows down the speed with which Ms. Floyd is able to read and comprehend. Ms. Floyd states that when she was hired by Ms. Jackson Lee, she was made aware of the accommodations which would be needed and they were agreed to.

That supposedly changed with the passage of time until eventually the kind-hearted Jackson Lee, ever the spokesperson for the oppressed, refused to accommodate her condition. This information is contained in court filings.

In an apparent effort to employ the “what have we got to lose?” defense, Ms. Jackson Lee’s attorneys argued that the Speech or Debate clause of the Constitution protected the Representative’s basic right to discrimination. The judge disagreed.

U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras ruled that, “Decisions about whether to allow an employee to rest or to have additional time to complete an assignment are not legislative acts for which the representative enjoys constitutional immunity from suit.” As a Democrat, it is possible she thought she enjoyed diplomatic immunity under the U.N. After all, Democrats have trouble making that distinction.

, I hate that woman. I wish she'd lose her job over it. Of course, she probably won't though.
