What tools do you keep with you?
Luckily i'v been fortunate to never have anything serious happen on the road, or had it happen with out access to tools. But I have an older bike(2004 xb12s) and i'v already found some surprises the previous owner left me. So I started thinking about what I should carry with me. I was thinking a 1/4" drive ratchet with select sockets, a small set of wire snips, and maybe a multi tool like a leatherman. All this should fit under my seat so why not right? Is there anything you guys never leave home with out?

This, which reminds me to get another. In my 36 years of riding and having a tool kit on every bike only once did the tool kit help me. I fouled a plug in New Waverly on the KDX, of course this would've been useless without the spare, properly gapped plug.

Tire plug kit and air compressor. Now that I have the hard bags and pretty much decided to leave them on at the bare minimum these two things are with me.

If I'm traveling way out of town, I carry one of these, rain gear and a tire plug kit:
![]() Around town: Just a tire plug kit. Not really a tool, but I always carry a Cell Phone and Motorcycle Roadside assist numbers! |
