good website for harley parts?
i'm new to the ownership experience that comes with owning a harley, but i have learned that for parts, amazon sucks, and ebay is hit or miss... you can always find a good deal for something you dont need on ebay.
when you are looking for something specific for your harley, where do you go? i have found that shops will order what i need, and sometimes it is at a price that doesnt make me flip, but they will order it to the shop, and just cant manage to send it to my house. right now, things i want to do to my fxdb are just swap back to mid controls and a lower hd handlebar that i can easily run the electrical through. if i can find a cheap place to at least get just the mid pegs, i'd be happy. what website is best for ordering genuine hd parts, or at least cheaper alternatives? i'd rather not have to order everything through the harley shop. |

J&P is usually my go to for most things. By the way, you'll have a hard time finding brand new hardware for that FXD to swap it back to mids. You'll have to end up going with used and finding someone selling their mids. You'll need the foot pegs, the brake pedal, shorter brake push rod, splined shaft, and there is a plastic rod that runs thru your inner primary to your outer primary as well that seals up with an o-ring, all the appropriate shift linkage WITH heim joints. You'll need the appropriate chain adjustment cover as well with the hole for your splined shaft if you don't have it.
Lucky for you, the twin cam inner primary is easy as to pull. Us evo and shovel guys don't have it so easy having to go thru a sequence to pull it so we don't crack it. |

Try DK Customs but I would give them a call and tell them what you are doing. Then sent me some used parts sitting on the shelf when I order some new stuff, kinda like courting me.

thanks for the link. i talked to someone on their chat thing and they pointed me to the just ahead of mid controls, or whatever harley calls them. i asked about some oe style mids, stating i would need everything aside from levers. i need both linkages, the mounts, and whatever else needs to happen on the clutch side.
the rep was straightforward with me and didnt give me any bs, and told me that they didnt sell the stuff to go to stock mid controls. if anyone here has stock mids sitting around that you wont mind selling, or wants to convert to forward controls, send me a message. |

Not sure about the parts you are looking for but I've found a lot of the stuff I want for my dyna on revzilla and jp. amazon you have to watch constantly. I got my fp3 for $100 off retail with free two day shipping the day after I installed my new exhaust. On the border cycles in Pasadena hooked it up on all the gaskets and misc stuff I needed for my top end. They were cheaper than Harley and about the same jp but no shipping cost. Harley stores have their uses though. I broke my quick disconnect fuel line and they had it in stock when I couldn't even find it anywhere online. Also check out bungking and big al's cycles for some cool custom t.

thanks for the info, brian
i got the bike back last night. the guy who did the work is a really cool dude. brian bourne bournewrenching@gmail.com or https://www.facebook.com/Bournewrenchingandcustoms/ i paid him $350, which included new gaskets, a new right mirror, 2 quarts of amsoil for me to change the transmission and primary oils, new hand grips, some wiring repaired and a freebie stock taillight. all i asked him to do was get the clutch side mid control installed. this dude did a great job! |

the duke had some bad overheating problems. i had just gotten it back from cycle shack for it's second maint, and it was still overheating pretty bad, so i turned to good ol' mh for advice. a cool guy offered me a trade for this 2007 hd street bob, and aside from some about ergos, i'm pretty happy with it.
i'd like to raise the seat height several inches. i dont know if there is a seat to do that, or taller shocks would be better, but it's not agreeing with my lower back. i know, i'm not 100% happy with anything. |
