Any towns in the three states I mentioned that you would recommend staying in? I don't like the interstate, but may go on it for the shorter time frames. I ride my brothers bmw on 82 to Lubbock, not my rebel.

If you are planning on long distance riding, a bobber seat will be the wrong direction to go. I would find a nice Corbin seat with plenty of padding so your tailbone won't hurt as much.

MH members, this guy is clearly trolling. Either that or completely naive. To the OP, if its neither of those things, you're totally not ready for such a trip. |

However if he is not, this trip would not be impossible. He will not go 85mph. 70 would be the sweetspot. Actually mosts Iron riders stay at 70-73mph, regardless of displacement of bike. He need not more. Again, riding in a car 85mph for 10 hours is a bore. Better on a bike, regardless of bike. |

Hey!!!
IMPORTANT! Check your valves, run seafoam through your carbs, and check into getting a larger front and/or smaller rear sprocket- your 250 cruiser is going to be murdered at hwy speeds. I had a 250 rebel and it was great at 50-55. 60-70mph.. it was screaming, revvin out, getting pushed by winds, etc. IMHO, a sprocket change to relax the motor on the freeway, and DEFINITELY an oil change before making the return leg are in order. The oil capacity is near nothing on those bikes, and it will be eaten up regardless with a trip like that |

also to add, there's a massive difference b/t a 1300 and a 250cc bike. Just to run the speed limit is going to push that bike to the limit. |

Tri
The trip will happen, I'm young enough to not really listen when people say not to do stuff and somehow make it work. What I do to the bike may change, but as of right now I have the time to take it down to the frame and put it back together after cleaning the pieces. I may bobber the seat after I get back since this is mostly going to be a town bike, but I'm giving it a good go first. The bike won't technically be restored since I have a several mods in mind.
