Dumber than planking...

River crossing should be left to Pester and other professionals.

Also apparently this is a common thing for this river and there are gates and signs that say do not cross

Play stupid games. . .win stupid prizes. I can't believe they just stood there when the water started rising, that was the time for quick decisive action!

planking is almost genius compared to this move, or lack of a move. RIP to the victims.

I don't know if it is my growing up with Godzilla movies, but anytime I see a group of people running away, I attempt to catch up, join, then pass the group...even if I don't know what the cause is.

dumb for not running... they could have easily made it, you can see a guy fall in the water trying to get out of the way and he did it saving his own life.

what a way to go out = /

wow...

looked like they were not really crossing, looked like they were coming from the edge of the falls when the water started to rise.

for how primitive it is a rope or a vine or something would have proven very useful there,

Apparently the local villagers warned the tourists about the notorious flash floods that sweep the region on a regular basis and told them it was not a good idea to go out there.

The people of the region are much lower in the Cast system than the more well off tourists usually are.

And anyone that knows anything about India knows that the higher-ups in the Cast system see the lower villagers as lesser than animals.

So it is not very surprising that the tourists completely disregarded the warnings of these lowly villagers.

I am pretty sure that there were not too many tears shed by the locals.

Now, family members are mad at local gvt for not posting signs or warning tourists about the dangers before hand, even though the villagers did warn them.
